The same fabric does not work for every hoodie or sweatshirt. Start with the season, silhouette, inside feel, decoration method and target price, then confirm GSM, composition and matching rib.
Lightweight spring hoodie
A typical starting point is 180–240 GSM loopback French terry with breathable comfort, soft drape and sufficient coverage for pale colors.
Everyday pullover sweatshirt
Consider 240–320 GSM French terry or lightly brushed fleece with stable shrinkage, a clean print surface and coordinated rib trims.
Winter brushed fleece hoodie

Select Hoodie Fabric GSM by Season, Fit and Decoration
GSM is a useful starting point, but it does not define quality by itself. Knit construction, yarn, density, brushing and finishing also affect warmth, drape, shrinkage and sewing performance.
A higher GSM does not automatically create a better hoodie. The selected weight should support the season, silhouette, decoration method and target retail position.
