What is the difference between Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 bird eye fabric?
We use Level 1–4 as a practical internal classification for eye size and openness. Higher levels indicate a larger, more open eye; the physical sample and construction remain the final reference.
What is the color fastness of your custom bird eye fabric?
Our standard custom bird eye fabric typically achieves a color fastness of Grade 3-4, which meets most general sportswear requirements.If your garment program requires a higher standard (such as Grade 4-5 for intense washing, heavy perspiration, or high-end retail), we can customize the dyeing process using specialized high-fastness dyes. Please note that upgrading to high-fastness dyes will incur an additional cost. Let us know your target testing standards when submitting your inquiry.
Do you charge for fabric sampling
We offer flexible sampling options depending on your development stage. The costs are structured in three ways:
Existing Quality Samples: If you need physical swatches of our previous bulk production to check the quality, texture, or weight, these are provided free of charge (shipping freight collect).
Color Lab Dips: Small custom color swatches (lab dips) matched to your Pantone or reference color are also free of charge.
Custom Roll Sampling: If your project requires special knitting techniques, unique finishing, or a full sample roll for garment prototyping, the sampling fee is generally $200–$300 per roll. However, this sample cost is fully refundable and will be deducted from your subsequent bulk order.
Does a larger bird-eye structure mean higher GSM?
No. Eye structure and GSM are separate variables, so the same level can be made at different weights by changing the yarn and knitting density.
Can you develop from our existing swatch or tech pack?
Yes. Send a physical swatch, clear macro photo, tech pack or existing specification. We assess the key attributes and develop toward an agreed sample target.
Can you make polyester-spandex bird eye fabric?
Yes. Polyester-spandex constructions are used when the garment needs added stretch and recovery. Share the stretch direction and coverage needed.
Can bird eye fabric be made with recycled polyester?
Recycled polyester directions are available for suitable programs. Include the required recycled content and documentation in your inquiry.
What functional finishes can be considered?
Options include moisture wicking, quick dry, cool touch, antibacterial, UV protection, anti-pilling, water repellent, odor control, insect-repellent treatment and brushing. Availability depends on the fabric and required test.
Is bird eye fabric the same as pique fabric?
Not exactly. Fine bird eye can resemble pique, but the construction, common composition and end use can differ, so do not source by appearance alone.
